INTRODUCING THE METAPHOR PROJECT: A One Hour Presentation
The 30 minute presentation, "Introducing the Metaphor
Project," is designed for groups not yet ready to commit
to a 4 1/2
hour Mainstreaming Your Message Training or other Project activities.
The talk is suitable for an hour's length meeting or class, which
can also
include a 30 minute follow up question period or sample exercise.
It covers
the Project's mission, goals, current activities and resources
offered,
as well as a capsule history of its origins and development. If
time
permits, mention will also be made of possible future directions
and activities,
with an opportunity for the audience to respond with suggestions.
THE "MAINSTREAMING YOUR MESSAGE" ALL-MEDIA KIT
The "MAINSTREAMING YOUR MESSAGE" ALL-MEDIA KIT is
a very detailed,
14 page step-by-step guide to the "MAINSTREAMING YOUR MESSAGE"
TRAINING
process, the Metaphor Project's most comprehensive general training
vehicle
in the art of mainstream persuasion for progressives. The Kit
also
introduces readers to the process of creating more vivid and effective
language for beginning a message. It can be useful to those unable
to
attend a workshop or to people preparing to attend a workshop
and wishing for a permanent
record of the process. Experience has shown that it is also helpful
to those
in need of quick and very specific assistance while being coached.
The 14 page version 3.0 includes the following topics:
1. Focusing Your Message,
2. Identifying Current Media Hooks,
3. Recalling Long term American Cultural Hooks,
4. Creating Your Own Message Wedges,
5. Applying Criteria for Picking Your Best Wedges,
6. Getting Your Messages Out, and
7. Establishing Your Own Message Wedge Team,
plus useful bibliography, and a list of groups and individuals
served
to date. Please note that the Kit is frequently revised and always
contains
the most up to date version of all Metaphor Project tools.
At this time the Kit is available
to all by snail mail, as well as for use
at workshops and in coaching individuals. Please send a check

THE "MAINSTREAMING YOUR MESSAGE" All-MEDIA TRAINING
The "Mainstreaming Your Message" All-Media Training
is
the Metaphor Project's most comprehensive general workshop
on the art of mainstream persuasion for progressives. The training
also
shows participants how to create more vivid and effective language
for
beginning their messages. The training makes the usually hit or
miss process
of coming up with better slogans, catch phrases, and metaphors
very
systematic, as it brings to ordinary brainstorming a wealth of
new tools,
methods, and criteria. It helps to channel as well as liberate
participants'
creativity because it is also fun.
The training includes the following sections:

The most up to date version takes 4 1/2 hours, of which 30
minutes is a
lunch break; it works best with at least seven people, and needs
a room with
a lot of wall space for taping up easel paper work sheets. A sliding
